More than 1,000 students have declared majors in the College of Science. The college places great emphasis on providing students with opportunities to engage in hands-on, real world research. Our talented and dedicated faculty won more than $17.8 million in research funding in FY 2018. Your generous gifts will help support students and faculty in the following ways:
College of Science Scholarships
The cost of higher education is one of the major barriers keeping qualified students from attending the University of Idaho. Gifts for scholarship support help us to recruit and retain outstanding students, and help provide more people with access to the benefits of a college education.
College of Science Undergraduate Research Fund
Gifts to the COS Undergraduate Research Fund will be used to fund competitive research grants for undergraduate students. Past undergraduate research participants have gone on to graduate school at some of the most prestigious universities in the country, including Stanford, Princeton and Cal Tech, to name just a few.
College and Department Excellence Funds
We use gifts to excellence funds for a variety of purposes, including student and faculty awards and recognition, undergraduate research awards, student travel and outreach to prospective students, alumni, and friends. These funds help us to provide enhanced student experiences, especially outside the classroom.
Our totals are still getting power-ups — the gifts keep coming! Joe's busy counting all these extra credits, but he promises he'll have a grand total for us tomorrow. Thank you for your generosity! #VandalsGive
