International Programs
Every year, courageous international students and scholars embark on a transformative journey at the University of Idaho. As a second home for individuals from more than 60 nations, U of I fosters a rich and diverse community.
During Vandal Giving Day, we invite you to support two special funds that foster stronger ties with our hard-working international student body and global neighbors.
International Programs' Cruise the World
For this annual event, our students transform the International Ballroom and Vandal Ballroom into a vibrant global village, showcasing food, performances, and activities from about 20 countries. Attendees enjoy a culinary and cultural adventure with diverse performances, making Cruise the World a standout, immersive global experience for our local community. Your gift will ensure this one-of-a-kind event continues to build relationships and expand cultural understanding.
Thank You for Making a Difference
We deeply appreciate your generous support of International Programs at U of I!
Hasan's Story
My name is Hasan Duha Ikiz. I am from Malatya, Turkey. I started my U of I journey in 2018 as an architecture major. I had a wonderful first two years and engaged with many international students. I really enjoyed the small community advantages of living in Moscow.
During the pandemic, I had an unexpected financial struggle. My parents suggested that I return to Turkey. I chose to stay and finish my education even though I didn't have any financial stability. That was when I reached out to IPO, and they were so helpful and found many opportunities for me to continue my education.
I fought to finish my undergraduate education with the goal of having top- tier architecture projects. I won several awards for my designs and was able to succeed in both my financial stability and my education.
When I began my Master of Architecture degree, I got the opportunity to build a house with my fellow students. With five graduate students and a faculty member, we designed and built the second Affordable Housing Project in Moscow, Idaho.
Now I am finishing my graduate architecture project. My thesis is about creating an earthquake resilient architecture in Turkey. I’m grateful for the support I received from the caring people in the International Programs Office, who helped me achieve my goals. Go Vandals!
