Vandal Giving Day 2024

Vandal Giving Day is an online fundraising event giving alumni, donors and friends worldwide the opportunity to come together and celebrate the best of Idaho by supporting University of Idaho students and their future.

Simply by donating, you will make an impact because every gift makes a difference. To get more involved, sign up to be an ambassador to get special resources to spread the word with your personal network. We also encourage you to post about Vandal Giving Day on social media using #UIdaho. 

Vandal Giving Day is powered by social media. Our ambassadors share information and their enthusiasm for Vandal Giving Day by including graphics and messages in their social media activity. When someone signs up to be an ambassador, they receive a toolkit containing social-ready files and suggested messages to encourage their friends and followers to participate in Vandal Giving Day. 

Vandal Giving Day is 1,889 minutes for generous donors to magnify the impact of their giving through various matches and challenge gifts while also celebrating our students, faculty and programs with each other on social media.

U of I faculty and staff may set up a recurring monthly gift by visiting Payroll Deduction Gifts - MyUI . Enter the amount of each payment (not the cumulative amount of your gift), check the "Make this gift recurring" option, select "custom (monthly)," and then use the drop-down list to select "9" months. Please include "VGD [$ of your gift]" in the "In Honor of" field.

Setting up a new payroll deduction can be for a certain amount total or for a certain amount per pay period. Examples: $500 gift could be 1 x $500 -- 10 x $50 – or 26 x $20. Payroll deductions must occur between the 4-12-24 and-3-28-25 pay periods.

The max number of pay periods we can count a VGD gift towards is 26 (a full calendar year) see dates above.

If you have any trouble making your payroll deduction gift, no worries! Just contact gifts@uidaho.edu and they'll take care of this for you!

Your gift is received by the University of Idaho Foundation, Inc. After your gift is processed, it is allocated to the program(s) you’ve chosen through the Vandal Giving Day website.

Bold Vandals set up matches and challenges every year to drive Vandal Giving Day success. Donors pledge a gift of a certain amount (starting at $250) to a fund of their choosing. They also specify how their gift will be “unlocked” by other donors: either as a dollar-for-dollar match or as a challenge when certain criteria are met, such as when 10 gifts are made to the fund of their choosing. These matches and challenges inspire others to give and help make Vandal Giving Day more fun for participants and help the University of Idaho extend our reach and impact.

Yes. Philanthropic contributions to the University of Idaho are tax deductible as provided by law. You will receive an emailed receipt shortly after completing your gift. If you require a printed receipt, please contact gifts@uidaho.edu or 208-885-4000.

Please note that, due to changes to the IRS tax code, as of January 1, 2018 your gift in support of the Vandal Scholarship Fund will not count toward priority seating, also known as “seatbacks.” Any seatback gift will not be counted in Vandal Giving Day totals.

There are plenty of options for you to choose from including every college, Vandal Athletics, Access for All Scholarship Fund, the Vandal Marching Band, the U of I Library and more. Every gift, regardless of size, makes an impact in the lives of our students!
